Description'Gnawing on the bones - reflections on Beuys' was commissioned by Hugh Lane Gallery’s education department and first screened at the study morning held on 21 January 2022 in conjunction with the exhibition, 'Joseph Beuys: From the Secret Block to Rosc'. Marking the anniversary of Beuys’ birth, Coogan performed an homage to his 1965 work, 'How to explain Pictures to a Dead Hare,' covering her head with honey and gold leaf. In the video this performance is layered with a recorded monologue, which includes musings on Beuys’ visit to Ireland, her intersection with his work and his deep legacy for contemporary performance art practitioners.
