DescriptionThis tempera painting shows a group of three puppets hanging and swinging in a breeze in front of a slightly opened window. The window is painted light navy and is three panes across by four up. Through the window can be seen an urban scene of roofs with a church spire in the distance. The female marionette is dressed in a peasant costume with a green and brown skirt with a white apron and a light brown blouse and headscarf. Above her hangs a male puppet with a stylised oriental face and oriental costume comprising of white stockings, green baggy trousers and a purple shirt with white sleeves. He is also wearing an orange oriental style cap. Hanging immediately to the right of this puppet is a clown dressed in a blue suit and floppy hat, with a white ruff around his neck.
