DescriptionIn the foreground are three figures in Chinese costume. To the right a boy with an oriental hat, to the left a man with a pigtail and in the centre a girl with a blue shawl and red scarf holds a baby. In the background is a river, across which are dim buildings and figures. The sky is filled with pink misty clouds.'George Chinnery RHA, at one time resident in Dublin, and in 1798 was elected a member of the RHA. He exhibited portraits at the RA in London from 1791 - 1846. He showed much ability in etching portraits, and made spirited sketches of scenes in India and China, where he lived for nearly 50 years.
