DescriptionThis watercolour is a coastal scene showing a row of curved towers and a wall that form part of Porchester Castle on the right. At the base of the wall is a sandy beach stretching across the foreground from right to left. In the distance are a number of ship masts. Beyond the ships is a coastline with low rolling hills. The majority of the composition is taken up with the portrayal of the sky, which is rendered in tones of light sandy brown, considerably paler than the colour of the beach.
