DescriptionThis landscape painting shows a view of the town of Ironbridge. Ironbridge is located in the county of Shropshire (formerly Salop), in central England, close to the Welsh border. As with other works by Steer, there are cows drinking from a river in the immediate foreground, while the town of Ironbridge nestles among green and brown foliage in the middle distance. The buildings in the town are rendered in a reddish brown silhouetted against a dusky light brown sky, streaked with tinges of blue and white.
