Description'Waiting (maquette)' closely relates to the installation, 'Environment/Waiting', in the Hugh Lane Gallery collection, which was purchased from the David Hendriks Gallery in 1982. The installation, constructed from paper and wire, comprises four figures waiting for what appears a Punch and Judy show to begin. The work comprises three tiny figures in front of the Punch and Judy “stage”, echoing the arrangement of the final installation. It therefore gives an insight into Brown’s working process. Brown's wire and papier-maché sculptures were critically acclaimed and in 1984 she was selected for inclusion in the ROSC exhibition at the Guinness Hop Store.
