DescriptionAt the Metropolitan School of Art John Hughes became friends with George Russell, Oliver Sheppard and WB Yeats. He enrolled at the South Kensington School of Art in 1890 where his sculpture master was Edouard Lanteri (1848-1917). Hughes also studied at the Academie Julian and at Colarossi's in Paris. The artist Beatrice Elvery recalled John Hughes as a most amusing and inspiring teacher.
