DescriptionThis work is a caricature drawing. Sir Hugh Percy Lane (1875-1915), in a lounge suit, stands hands behind his back in front of a large decorative urn. Above the urn, on a panelled wall hangs a portrait of a seated lady with a fan by Manet. In the left foreground stands a rotund, suave, moustached gentleman with his arms outstretched in an imploring gesture towards Lane. There is an up turned hat lying on the ground in front of Lane, with what appears to be a number of banknotes, presumably donations.
