DescriptionThis work is a caricature drawing. William Wordsworth (1770 - 1850), the English poet, is portrayed as whitehaired, dressed all in black, wearing a top hat and glasses and holding a walking stick / cane in his left hand. With his right hand he chucks the chin of a pale coloured-bonnetted little girl, who stands gazing at him. In the background is a lake and mountains. It is raining.

Wordsworth grew up in England’s Lake District and spent much of his life there.
