DescriptionPaul Wayland Bartlett won the medal at the Paris Salon in 1887. His most famous work was the House of Representatives Pediment at the United States Capital Building - The Apotheosis of Democracy 1908-1916. A retrospective exhibition was held after his death at the Musee de l'Orangerie in Paris in 1929. In 1895 he was named a chevalier of the French Legion of Honour. Seated female nude torso and thighs in plaster. Her hair is falling over her right shoulder. Her head, arms and legs below the knees are not included in the study.
