DescriptionThis is an in intagio print (etching) on paper, depicting a view of the ruins of the Coliseum in Rome from the Palatine Hill. The Coliseum is on the left foreground reaching into the left middle-ground. In the centre foreground and right foreground stretching into the middle-ground is a plateau with figures saunturing around. In the right middle-ground and extending into the right background there are further Roman ruins. The background is taken up with sky and a single stretch of cloud spanning from left to right in a curve and disappearing behind the ruins on the right-hand side.On View
