DescriptionIn the centre middleground a young man sits holding a palette board in his right hand. He is wearing a red waist coat over an open necked white shirt. A bowl of red and white flowers with green foliage is on a table in the left foreground. In the right foreground is a lighted candle on a second table and behind this is a third table with a skull. There is a painting and a window in the left background. In the right background there appears to be a mirror, reflecting the back of the young man.

This is probably a self-portrait and therefore the young man is the artist, Daniel O'Neill (1920-1974).
