DescriptionThis is a three quarter length portrait of a man sitting in front of a fireplace with an ornate chimneypiece. The man is wearing a black dressing gown with wide brown lapels. He has a silver ring on his right hand, which is leaning on a small side table. To the left of the chimneypiece is an ornate flower vase fitted into a tripod. The chimneypiece itself has a female head and torso sculpted on the vertical section mimicking the Caryatid from the Erechtheion, on the acropolis in Athens, Greece. Mancini's usual grid technique is visible over the majority of the painting's surface. On View
