DescriptionThis series of still images, Hole in the Sea, is taken from a collaborative film called Land art made for filmmaker Gerry Schum’s ‘TV Gallery’. Created for Sender Freies Berlin, the programme aired on April 15, 1969 on German Television. Flanagan buried a hollow plastic cylinder in the sand on the beach at Scheveningen, The Netherlands. During a rising tide, he filmed the eventual disappearance of the hole that appeared when the waves inundated the cylinder.
