DescriptionLavery, who portrayed Collins in his lifetime as one of the Treaty delegates, also documented his appearance in death. This image of Collins in death has a majestic quality that is underscored by the purple pillow on which his head rests. The emblems of the crucifix and tricolour emphasise that Collins died for his country.
