BiographyBorn in London in 1872 and educated at Merton College, Oxford. He was known as a writer and caricaturist. His first book of caricatures was published in 1896. He managed to strike a balance between the pits of sentimentality on one side and cruelty on the other. His caricatures often served as subjects to his writing. A founder member of the National Portrait Society he was knighted in 1939.
