DescriptionThis is a landscape painting showing a shallow river with large rocks diverting its course. There are two figures languishing on one of the rocks, as a third figure with a walking stick approaches them through a gap in the trees along the bank of the stream. Through the gap can be seen a house with a blue slate roof and almost completely hidden by the trees is a second house with only the smoking chimney visible. The warm muted colours of the foliage and the sky give the distinctive feeling of a sunny autumn evening. The scene is set in Wales. On View
