DescriptionDuncan Grant was a key figure of the Bloomsbury circle, a British group of modernist artists, writers and intellectuals, including Roger Fry and Virginia Woolf. Purser bought Ships in Harbour for the FNCI from Redfern Gallery in 1931, run by well-known New Zealand-born British collector and art dealer Rex Nan Kivell. The harbour depicted is La Ciotat in southern France.
