DescriptionAlthough her graphic work is also important, it is as a stained glass artist that Co. Leitrim born Geddes is chiefly known. These stained glass panels were made for Sarah Purser in direct response to the latter's invitation to her to join An Tur Gloine. The St Colman triptych is only her second completed stained glass project, yet the maturity and originality of the piece is extraordinary in terms of expressive line, subtlety of colouring and monumentality. Her style is influenced by the attenuated figures and expressive draperies in works by El Greco and also by the gravitas of ancient Greek sculpture.
