DescriptionThis is an intaglio print (etching) on paper. There appear to have been two plates used in this print, one with the black line and another which was painted with different colour inks in order to colour the figure's skin, clothes etc. A soft ground etch would have been used for the outline of the figures, this results in the sketch-like appearance. Two figures, one male, one female, are depicted. The bare-footed male figure carries a canister and basket, while the female carries a basket on her head.On View
