DescriptionThis is an intaglio print (etching) with hand painted additions. It depicts a soldier about to go off to war (World War I) being embraced by his wife. Their child tugs on the mother's skirt. It takes place in a rural setting; there are two chickens in the bottom left corner of the print, and part of their small farmhouse can just be seen to the left.
