DescriptionRodney Dickson was born in Northern Ireland and studied at Liverpool John Moores University. While he has been based in New York for many years, his work remains influenced by the socio-political strife of his childhood in Northern Ireland. His work explores the conceptual and physical terrains of conflict, retreat, and rebirth.
Dickson has travelled extensively in Asia and has made work in response to the aftermath of conflict in Vietnam and Cambodia. 'Kill 'em all and Let Buddha sort 'em out' is one of a number of works that Dickson has created in response to the aftermath of the Vietnam War. These include his Queen Bee project, which began in 2004 with the Snake Bar & Tea Room at Roger Smith Gallery, New York. The project also incorporates the Queen Bee War Remnants Museum, first shown in Art Basel Miami Beach 2007, and stand-alone paintings, drawings, and sculptures.
