DescriptionFor the duration of the exhibition of THE STUDIO (1 December 2006 - 25 February 2007) London-based painter Andrew Grassie set up his studio in gallery16 in Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane. For this exhibition the artist painted four new paintings that documented his 'studio in the museum.'

Andrew Grassie is known for his self-reflective mode and his hyper-realistic style of painting that often revolves around curatorial issues and questions concerning the installation and display of artworks within the exhibition. In the past, Grassie has had installed entire exhibitions which he then carefully paints, only to present the paintings of the artworks within the exhibition space that before contained the works of art.

Andrew Grassie is one of Britain's leading contemporary artists and has exhibited internationally. His work was exhibited as part of Art Now: at Tate Britain in 2005.
