DescriptionThis is a portrait bust of Count Leo Tolstoi (Lev Nikolayevich, Count Tolstoi, 1828 - 1910). Tolstoi's face appears to be emerging from a piece of stone like an unfinished sculpture. His beard is roughly formed, while the facial features are more defined. His heavy brow gives the impression of deep thought.
