DescriptionThis is a two colour intaglio print (etching) on paper. This is an intimate portrait of a man's head, emerging from a dark background, with downward cast eyes. Two plates would have been used in this print, a brown one, giving the warm tone of the skin and hair, and a black one, defining the hairs on the man's head and beard and darkening the background.

Harrison was a student of Alphonse Legros and was the donator of many etchings of Legros, including an etching entitled 'Landscape' (reg no. 454), which bears the inscription 'à mon élève Miss Harrison' (to my student Miss Harrison).
