DescriptionAlthough the prints have been bound with the title 'A Series of Etchings ...' They are in fact engravings (intaglio prints).

This print shows a bearded man, King Lear, in Greek classical garb. His long grey hair is whipping dramatically in the wind as he holds the body of a dead woman, which is stretched out on a rock. Three warriors in Greek style helmets and two of them carrying spears, are standing behind the rock and looking towards King Lear. In the background can be seen low hills and a dark foreboding sky.
