DescriptionKathleen Fox studied under William Orpen at the Metropolitan School of Art. Science and Power was her first work exhibited at the Royal Hibernian Academy in 1911. Here she is showing her friend, the sculptor Albert Power, at work in his studio on a commission for the figure of Science intended for the Royal College of Science on Merrion Street (now Government Buildings). Power was a close friend of Oliver Sheppard who was also commissioned to make the figures of Sir William Rowan Hamilton and Robert Boyle for this project.
