DescriptionIn this painting, Duffy shows a close up image of a tumultuous torrent of floodwater, as it crashes over rocks. It is a depiction of a flood on the River Dargle. The Dargle rises in the Wicklow Mountains, and flows east for twelve miles to enter the Irish Sea at Bray. This small river coming off bare mountain and weathered granite cliffs, is subject to violent spates.
