DescriptionChristopher Campbell has been described as an 'enigmatic figure in Irish art.' He spent a short period in Harry Clarke's stained glass studios and made a number of designs for stained glass windows in Irish churches. He also painted urban subjects, nudes and portraits and self-portraits. The subject of this drawing is the sculptor Michael Shorthall (1868-1951) who is perhaps most well known for his work for St Brendan's Cathedral, Loughrea, Co. Galway. (JO'D)
