DescriptionWilliam Sheehan studied at the Crawford School of Art in Cork and the Metropolitan School of Art in Dublin. Regarded as a promising student, Sheehan was awarded the Gibson Scholarship in 1923 enabling him to travel to Madrid. However, rather than effectively pursuing his studies there Sheehan's life became drink and debt ridden, leading unfortunately to the termination of his scholarship. He died at a young age of tuberculosis in 1923. (JO'D)On View
