DescriptionIn the centre of this drawing is the figure of a female saint reclining, possibly in the throes of dying. She is supported by another similarly dressed figure playing a mandolin on the right. On her left is an angel leaning down and gently taking the saint's hand. Behind this angel are a further eighteen angel, who form a heavenly choir, and some of these are playing musical instruments. This choir of angels have manifest themselves from the smoke of an extinguished candle that is sitting on a table on the extreme left. There are certain Pre-Raphaelite tendencies present in the style of the drawing, particularly the work of Edward Burne-Jones. This drawing is monochromatic and executed in shades of brown. On View
