DescriptionBrian Maguire is noted for his expressive gestural paintings, in which he explores the realities of the human condition. Maguire is motivated by struggles against inequality and violence, and the pursuit of justice. This had led him to work with groups in mental health hospitals and in prisons. The isolated and alienated figure such as in The (Imaginative) Pit appears throughout his work.
