DescriptionThis intaglio print (etching) shows two sketches of the literary character Don Quixote. On the left side is a full-length depiction of Don Quixote facing the viewer. He is wearing a suit of armour and a round helmet. His face is bearded. His hands are leaning on a shield. His body is extremely thin and his head appears disproportionate to his body, typical of the visual representations of this famous character. On the right is a second sketch of Don Quixote in profile, but only includes his head and torso.

Brian Bourke was born in Dublin in 1936. He studied at the National College of Art & Design in Dublin and St. Martin's School of Art in London.
