DescriptionFlora Mitchell was praised for precision of detail and skill in capturing atmosphere. Her book Vanishing Dublin published in 1966 reproduced fifty of her watercolour drawings. The subject was a reflection of her love of wandering the lesser known streets of Dublin and recording what she encountered there. In this work here Mitchell’s subject is Charlemont House, a Palladian townhouse designed by William Chambers for the first Earl of Charlemont in 1765. In 1933 Charlemont House became the home of the Municipal Gallery of Modern Art.On View
