DescriptionMuch of Mauve’s painting depicts people and animals in an outdoor setting and he was particularly influenced by the work of J.B.C Corot and Jean François Millet. While his early work was also infl uenced by The Hague School of painters he would, with Josef Israëls, go on to found the Laren School, a style of en plein air, or outdoor painting similar to that of the Barbizon School in France.On View
