DescriptionThis portrait of the Marquis Giorgio Capranica del Grillo, a descendant of one of Rome’s grand families, and shown here in his capacity as an amateur painter, was awarded a gold medal at the St Louis World Fair in 1904. A generous supporter of Mancini, del Grillo placed his own studio at Via Nazionale 114 at the artist’s disposal.




The Marquis del Grillo, Chamberlain to the Queen-Dowager of Italy; son of Madame Ristori, the great actresss.
This painting won the Gold Medal at the St. Louis Exhibition.
