Lily Williams1874 - 1940
Lily [Elizabeth Josephine} Williams 1874-1940 was one of three daughters of a Protestant Unionist family who lived at Marlborough Road Donnybrook. She was taught art initially by Mary Manning. She later attended the Metropolitan School of Art. Arthur Griffith was a close family friend. His letters to Lily from internment in England are extant. She became estranged from her family due to her republican views. She presented her portrait of Griffith to the Hugh Lane Gallery. (Anthony J. Jordan)
