DescriptionPrior to the removal of Francis Bacon's studio from 7, Reece Mews, South Kensington, photographer Perry Ogden took a series of remarkable images of the studio and its contents as Bacon left it on his death in April 1992. These images capture the unique atmosphere of Bacon's studio and allow one to explore the artist's private space where he lived and worked for over thirty years. They are not simply documentary images but are also images of aesthetic beauty in their own right. With great intimacy, Ogden captures every detail of the studio including the torn photographs, precarious piles of books, magazines and newspapers, the paint encrusted walls and even the layer of dust on the shelves beneath the mirror.

Perry Ogden grew up in London and became interested in photography while still at school. He worked as a Fashion photographer for a number of years. His first exhibition at Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane was entitled "Pony Kids" and documented the experiences of children specifically the cultural phenomenon of children keeping ponies on patches of green in the wastelands of some of Dublin's most deprived areas. Ogden has also had success as a film-maker and his first film Pavee Lackeen (2005) met with critical acclaim. He lives and works in Dublin.
