DescriptionIn the 1990s, Perry Ogden photographed children who owned and rode ponies at the Smithfield Horse Fair, a monthly horse fair in Dublin which was once a busy, regular event, dating back to the 17th century. Ogden photographed the children and teenagers formally against a white background, setting up a temporary, small studio on Smithfield Square early in the morning. The images, collectively titled Pony Kids, were published in 1999 and exhibited at Hugh Lane Gallery the same year.
