DescriptionThis is a colour relief print (wood engraving) on paper. A woman, sitting on a resting unicorn's back, is tying the unicorn to a tree. The entire composition is printed in green.

Moore wrote an introduction to 'Albrecht Altdorfer a Book of 71 Woodcuts Photographically Reproduced in Facsimile. Little Engravings, Etc. No. 1', published in 1904 by the Unicorn Press.

Thomas Sturge Moore was an English poet, author and artist. He was educated at Dulwich College. He adopted the name 'Sturge' as a way of avoiding confusion with the poet Thomas Moore. He was a long-term friend and correspondent of W. B. Yeats. He was also a playwright, writing a Medea influenced by Yeats' drama and the Japanese Noh style.
