DescriptionMichael Kane is a central figure in Irish modernism, as an artist and as an organiser of the Independent Artists’ exhibitions and co-founder of the Project Arts Centre in the 1960s. Car Park is an important work for the artist, marking the beginning of a series of paintings in which he began to explore abstraction.
