DescriptionWilliam McKeown’s meticulous, luminous abstract paintings, frequently capture the light at the break of day. Minimal and monochromatic in style, works such as The Lane are concerned with the primacy of feeling and the power of nature. Their highly finished surfaces reveal a refined sense of colour executed in subtle tonal gradations. The emergence from darkness to light, the liminal spaces between earth to sky, as well as freedom and happiness are consistent reference points in his work.
