DescriptionRichard Tuttle frequently uses ordinary materials, which he transforms in the creation of an artwork. In doing so, he pushes the boundaries of the perceived conventions of art. He made the Cycle series using a wood board found more often on building sites than in galleries. They are among groups of works by Tuttle in which the interplay between the objects is crucial. In the Triumphs catalogue, he wrote: “Multi-part horizontals. What were they? Not series. Not groups. Not even multi-points in time and space. A perceptive friend, Herb Vogel, said Richard has too many ideas for one work, so he spreads them out.”
